Build it Tight and Ventilate it Right
A tightly sealed home will conserve energy, reduce heating and cooling costs, and make your home healthier and more comfortable. Without proper ventilation, however, that carefully sealed and insulated home can also trap indoor air pollutants, including moisture.
Hazardous gases like carbon monoxide, nitrogen dioxide, and radon can seep into any home through openings in floors and walls, or be emitted from household appliances such as stoves, dryers, or water heaters. Even common household items can emit volatile organic compounds (VOCs) that evaporate at room temperature—chemicals like paints, varnishes, air fresheners, or cleaning supplies. Ice Dams
Ice dams are a sign of a sick house. They are caused by heat loss through lack of adequate insulation, uncontrolled air leakage, or a combination of both.
Before our retrofit: This home had high fuel bills and severe ice dams that would not let the homeowners even enter their front door.
After our retrofit: Air leakage was controlled using rigid insulation and 2 part foam and the slopes were well insulated with dense packed cellulose by our qualified crew. No more ice dams!
